Basics in Bowling
Our top tips to help you play better!!
Be picky
Choose your ball carefully - if it's too light it'll be hard to control, and a heavy ball will lack the momentum it needs to knock the pins down! Make sure your grip is comfortable and you can release the ball easily.
Slide into it
Make sure you slide on the opposite foot to the hand you're bowling with. Some bowling shoes have special slides; however house shoes may or may not have them. A simple fix-it for this – put a sock on it! Cover the shoe sole with a sock from tip to arch, leaving only the heel uncovered. Sliding helps the momentum of the ball and gives it extra power to really knock those pins down.

Go all the way
When bowling, don't stop when your arm reaches the side
of your body; keep it going all the way forward towards the pins that you’re
aiming at and you'll be more precise and powerful.
Feet on the floor
Feet on the floor
Extend the arm you don't bowl with, away from the body,
this helps you keep your balance; you don't want to fall over at a crucial
moment!
Twinkle toes
Keep your steps smooth and small (though not Flintstones small) as you go for that all-important swing, and make sure your hips and shoulders are squared with the pins. Point your swing where you want your ball to go and you're on target for that strike!
Focus
Look straight ahead and keep those pins/arrows/dots/pin reflection/brown patch/line/board/pocket/ whatever it is that you aim at, in your sight. When you step onto the approach, it's just you and the lane, nothing else matters.

Foul Line
Try not to step over the black foul line - if you do, you
might bring back oil onto the approach which can be hazardous to other bowlers
and in some bowling centers, your score might not even count.
Most Importantly
Don't forget to have fun! Enjoy every shot, every frame, every game!
